Photography exhibition 'Man Ray. Wonderful Visions' from 1 April to 7 October

Open until 7 October. Man Ray was a tireless experimenter, reinventing just about everything he touched. But above all as a Dadaist and Surrealist artist he has transformed photography to become one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century.

Over one hundred images are on show allowing us to view his innovative and revolutionary work. Man Ray reworked many of the readymades created by his friend Marcel Duchamp, transforming them into "objects of affection", he also made portraits, self-portraits, nudes, still life, as well as what today we would call fashion photography. Not to mention the reinventions of particular techniques such as the frame, renamed rayograph which he sublimated surrealistically, and solarization through which he returned the aura to portraits and bodies. Man Ray transforms every image into an enigma showing us how a mystery is hidden in the real, even the most habitual.

Galleria d'Arte Moderna, via Folgore 11, San Gimignano. Opening times: 1 April to 30 September from 10am to 7.30pm. And 1 October to 7 October from 11am to 5.30pm.
