An exceptional bronze statue together with its ritual context found in the territory of San Gimignano are now on public view for the first time.

The archaeological discovery took place in 2010 during the renovation of a private building in the countryside outside San Gimignano in the direction of Volterra. During excavation operations in Torraccia di Chiusi, experts came across a find, to say the least surprising: a bronze statue was buried face down nearly two metres underground. The excavation campaign revealed an extraordinary outdoor, Etruscan sacred area, in use for at least five hundred years, from the 3rd century BC. until the 2nd century AD.
